Speeding Up the AG-5’s Trackball for Windows Users

1)   Set your computer’s mouse properties to the fastest speed. Then, disable the “Enhance pointer precision” feature (located in Control Panel --> Mouse Properties --> Pointer Options).

2)   You can change your Windows registry to speed up the trackball. WARNING! Changing your registry is dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. Before making any registry modifications, please back up your settings. Once your back up is complete, you can change your Windows registry as follows:
a) Click the Windows “Start” button in the lower left corner of your screen and select “Run.” Type "regedit" without the quotation marks and then press Enter.
b) Locate the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse.
c) In the right pane, double-click MouseSpeed and change the Value data to 2.
d) Change MouseThreshold1 = 1
e) Change MouseThreshold2 = 1
f) Close Registry Editor and check if your trackball is faster. If not, try experimenting with different values.
* Here is a link to the explanation underlying these modifications on Activewin.com.

3)   Set the computer's mouse speed settings to normal and download the Andersen Mousebooster. It is a simple Autohotkey script written by one of our first customers, Carl Andersen, which increases the speed of the AG-5's trackball. Just save the program to your computer and activate it when using the AlphaGrip. Once it is running, you can toggle it on or off by pressing the PrtSc button. To close the program, right click on the icon in the lower right-hand corner of your screen and select Exit.

The Andersen Mousebooster will increase the speed of your desktop mouse. When the program is deactivated, however, (either by toggling it off or exiting the program), the speed of your desktop mouse will return to normal.

If the Mousebooster makes your trackball move too fast or not fast enough, try adjusting your computer's mouse properties speed (as described in #1 above).
